There’s a party going on at Tommy Douglas Library! It’s our 10 birthday – Come celebrate with us!

11:00 – 11:45 am: Author Visit and Story Program with Lisa Lewis, Ages 3+ Drop-in.

  • Children's Programming Room.
  • Space and supplies are limited.
  • Lisa Lewis, a Squamish Nation author, reads her book, Tsunaxen's Journey. In addition, there will be cultural songs, a chance to try a drum and a craft based on Lisa’s book.

2:00 – 4:00 pm: All Ages MakerSpace Drop-in.

  • Children's Programming Room.
  • Create birthday themed crafts, including hats, cards, and flowers. Children under 10 need to bring an adult who will participate.

2:30 – 4:30 pm: Tech Open House, Ages 6+ Drop-in.

  • Adult Programming Room
  • Discover our new tech equipment, including Oculus Go, Sphero, littleBits and Nintendo Switch.

5:00 – 6:00 pm: Speeches and refreshments

  • Speeches from Mayor Mike Hurley, Library Board Trustees and other distinguished guests.

6:30 – 8:00 pm: Movie – The Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009, Rated G) Ages 7+ Drop-in.

  • Children's Programming Room.
  • Based on the classic Roald Dahl story. Recommended for ages 7+ (Common Sense Media). Some children may find scenes frightening.

Are you or someone you care about at risk of overdose? Learn about the overdose crisis in Burnaby, how to recognize the signs of an overdose and practice how to respond. Eligible community members can pick up a free Take Home Naloxone (THN) kit.

This class will introduce you to the basics of creating a slideshow presentation using Microsoft Powerpoint 2010.  Learn how to create slides, insert text, and edit your presentation!

Basic computer knowledge is necessary to register.

Join us for a two day workshop on November 22 & November 28, 2019 to prepare for Canadian citizenship. The sessions will be facilitated by MOSAIC staff. We will talk about topics such as Canada’s history, symbols, government and geography, as well as the rights and responsibilities of citizenship. This workshop will be held in English, with Chinese language support available.
