Introduction to Lynda.com

Lynda.com includes more than 16,000 courses on software programs like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop, and includes tutorials on social media and web publishing tools like Facebook, Twitter and WordPress. There are courses on career improvement, productivity, marketing and more. If you want to acquire more business and technology skills then this session is for you.

Prerequisite: Must be comfortable using computer, keyboard and mouse and have valid Burnaby Library card.

Wednesday, January 30
10:30 am to 12:30 pm

This class will help you learn the basics of a web browser. See common web site navigation features & use a search engine to perform simple searches.

Basic computer knowledge is necessary to register. Registration begins on December 27 at 10 am.

Wednesdays, February 13, 20 AND 27 - Must attend all three sessions
10:30 am to 12:30 pm

The first class will teach basic commands and functions of MS Excel -creating a new spreadsheet, entering, deleting and formatting data, sorting information & creating basic formula, plus saving and printing. The second class will teach making a budget, applying multiplication and division formulas, and making a chart or graph from a spreadsheet. The third class will go over what was learned before and will provide an opportunity for additional practising. Participants are expected to attend all three sessions.

Prerequisite: Basic computer knowledge is necessary to register.
