The Benefits of Yoga for Mental Health in Seniors
As we age, it’s important to stay vital and connected. Chair Yoga can support seniors by improving mood and enhancing our relationships to ourselves and others.
In this workshop Yoga Therapist Nicole Marcia, MA will provide an introduction to yoga for mental health.

Nicole Marcia, MA, C-IAYT, E-RYT 500 has taught therapeutic yoga classes and offered individual sessions to trauma survivors since 2004. She trains yoga and healthcare professionals in the trauma-informed yoga theory and techniques required to support trauma survivors in their healing, long-term stability and recovery.
In 2009, she was awarded a master’s degree with a specialization in yoga therapy from Lesley University in Boston, MA. Since then, she has been employed by the Provincial Health Services Association at their Burnaby Centre for Mental Health and Addictions. She serves as the director of training at Yoga Outreach, is a faculty member at Ajna Yoga and the Vancouver School of Yoga and is an instructor and project coordinator in the Langara College Continuing Studies Yoga Teacher Training Program.
She teaches at Onsite, the treatment arm of North America’s first safe injection site in Vancouver’s downtown eastside and is a member of Bridge for Health and the Breathe Network which connects survivors of sexual violence with healing arts practitioners. www.finebalanceyoga.ca
