What is RSS?

RSS is a tool that allows Burnaby Public Library to deliver news headlines, events listings and more to our readers, so you can keep on top of what's happening, regardless of how frequently or infrequently you visit the website. An RSS feed from BPL is just a list of headlines, with links and descriptions formatted in a way that RSS readers understand.

Our RSS feed is updated each time we publish a news item, announce a program or event, or recommend a new title on our home page. Give your RSS reader our feed URL (above), and it will regularly check our feed and show you the latest updates in real time.

Getting started

First, you'll need to download or subscribe to an RSS reader. Some popular web-based RSS readers include:

You can also receive RSS updates in Firefox, regardless of whether you're using Windows, Mac OS X or a GNU/Linux operating system.

To add the Burnaby Public Library RSS feed to your reader, just type our feed URL (above) into the application and it will start feeding you our updates. If you're using the Firefox browser right now, you will notice a small blue or orange box (usually in the address bar at the top of the browser window). Click on the box and a window will pop up asking if you want to subscribe to The Burnaby Public Library RSS feed. Click "yes" and our feed will appear as a bookmark.
