Help your child become a reader

family reading
Reading research has shown that there are six skills that children must know before they can learn to read. You can have fun helping your child develop these skills by:

  1. Sharing the fun of reading
  2. Helping your child learn new words
  3. Helping your child learn the names and sounds of letters
  4. Encouraging your child to describe things
  5. Helping your child hear the smaller sounds in words
  6. Explaining how written language works
