Welcome to an evening of tasty food and fun at Brentwood! Our YMCA staff offer a light, vegetarian dinner and a space for parents to engage with their children and socialize with friends and family.

Play, sing and share books with Burnaby Public Library. Library time is an active, fun time designed for young children and their families. Learn a new song, have fun with words and language, and get into the bedtime reading habit early with Carol and Vicki!

This is a free program for our community! No registration required.

This is a program for Chinese families that includes songs, rhymes and storytelling.

There are 2 classes:
The first class is from 9:30 - 11:00 am. The second class is from 11:00am - 12:30pm.
Each class has 9 sessions.

Limit to 12 families (first priority will be for families who haven't attended the program this year; others will be put on the waiting list)

BPL 60th AnniversaryLook for Burnaby Public Library in the parade and at our booth on Hats Off Day! This year's Hats Off Day theme is "Jungle Fever." Our staff and friends will be in costume as characters from children's books and movies like The Jungle Book, Where the Wild Things Are, and The Magic School Bus. Our paraders, with our decorated Book Cart Drill Team, will hand out Summer Reading Club bookmarks to kids along the route, and our booth will feature a craft for kids. Come join us!

Children ages 6 to 12 are welcome to join us for informal chess games, facilitated by Curtis Lister of the Burnaby Junior Chess Club. This is a drop-in program and no registration is required, but space is limited - arrive early! Parents of children under 10 years old are asked to remain in the program room.

Parenting in the Middle Years (6-12 years)
Mondays May 30 - June 27, 2016, 10 - 12:00.

This is a supportive and educational series for parents of children ages 6 to 12 years. Understanding middle childhood development, encouraging social-emotional competency, responding to school and family life challenges, fostering positive peer relationships, communicating effectively, understanding temperament, and strategies for effective, positive discipline in the middle years will be covered. Parenting styles and coping with the stresses and strains of parenting will also be included.  The goal of this series is to provide parents with a forum to learn, to share and to discuss information and strategies to enrich their parenting experience.
