Mondays, October 6 to November 17

Parenting toddlers and preschoolers (18months - 4 years)

In this interactive series, the focus is on understanding the unique challenges parents of children under age 5 encounter as their children move through the toddler and preschool years. Topics include but are not limited to: effective communication, the link between behaviour and temperament, understanding child development, having appropriate behavioral expectations, and responding to children’s misbehaviour in ways that promote growth and self regulation. Responding to temper tantrums, coping with separation anxiety, teaching social skills such as sharing and turn taking are a few examples of topics that can be included.

Third Monday of the month, from October 20 to December 15
3:00 pm to 4:30 pm

Calling all builders! Kids ages 4 to 12 are invited to drop in on the third Monday of each month to play with the library's extensive LEGO collection. Moms and dads can join the fun too! Caregivers are required to accompany children 10 and under. This is a drop-in event. Registration is not required.

What is Reading Buddies?

Reading Buddies is a reading program where teens and children are paired up for one-on-one reading in a safe, fun and friendly environment. Younger children will gain practice reading with a caring teen mentor. Teens will develop leadership experience and community involvement.

How do I sign up?

Sign up in person at Tommy Douglas Library starting September 19, 2014.
